On behalf of the FBI-LEEDA Board of Directors, staff and instructors, we want to take this moment to recognize that these are unprecedented times and we are all adjusting to a new normal, embracing new terms like “social distancing” and “self-quarantine” to guide our daily interactions. We are all adjusting to the reality of a growing pandemic with novel coronavirus, and while it affects all of us, it affects some more than others. For many of us, this is the first experience with a pandemic in our professional careers. Even for those of us practicing for longer than that, it is arguably the most impactful disease outbreak we have seen. Please know that we are with you in these times of unrest. We remain committed to you and our mission to enhance law enforcement leadership.
We have been closely monitoring the spread of novel coronavirus throughout the United States, following guidance from the CDC and local health authorities, consulting with local and national professionals to ensure we have the right plans and resources in place to safeguard our community health and well-being. On Monday of this week, we were notified by our host committee members in Kansas City that our 2020 conference would need to be cancelled in accordance with the local government declaration to limit gatherings of 50 or more persons for eight weeks. Regrettably, the FBI-LEEDA Kansas City conference scheduled for April 27-29, 2020 is cancelled. We are working with our stakeholders to come up with viable alternatives and will update our membership as soon as we have information to share.
If you have paid conference registrations, we will be processing refunds over the next few weeks. Please watch your email for communications from us on this. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Please note: FBI-LEEDA office staff is working remotely as a mitigation strategy to help stop the spread of novel coronavirus and other seasonal illnesses. During this time, the best way to contact our staff is to send us an email at [email protected]. Our office phones will be transferred to our voicemail system. If you leave us a phone message, we will return the message as soon as we are able. We are working hard to minimize the disruption to our business operations and class schedule and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
We recognize that this pandemic is evolving so rapidly that our plans for today may be different tomorrow or next week. We are committed to providing timely updates to you so watch your email for updates. We will continue to act in a socially responsible manner to mitigate the spread novel coronavirus, and protect our most valuable assets: our law enforcement partners, members and associates.
Please stay in touch and check https://fbileeda.org/page/COVID19 frequently for the latest updates to our conference and course schedule changes.
Our hearts are with our members, associates and partners, who are in the midst of this crisis and we wish everyone health and safety.
